Featuring Fantastic Women In Film

On a blustery winter day, a group of female filmmakers from the Northeast Ohio / Western Pennsylvania region - including myself - met on a rooftop in downtown Youngstown, Ohio, to celebrate our love for making movies and TV.

We wore snowsuits for the shoot because we often work outdoors in the coldest weather and other less-than-ideal conditions.

Most of us on the roof had worked on the recent production of the independent film “Among The Ashes” starring Denise Richards and Richard Gunn.

During the production, those on set often remarked that they’ve never seen so many women working in a wide range of historically male-dominated positions.

Even the local news took notice. Check out this article by a Youngtown outlet that did a story about our work. We talked about bringing Hollywood-style films to the region and their positive economic impact.

I’m sure more productions are destined to be filmed in Youngstown, a region with a rich variety of potential settings for future films and series set in America’s Rust Belt.
